Virtual Presenters at the Day Hospitals Australia National Conference will be sent a Zoom meeting link approximately 1 / 2 weeks prior to the conference.

Don’t forget:

  1. Test Your Technology in Advance: Ensure your internet connection is stable, and test your microphone, camera, and presentation software ahead of time. Familiarise yourself with the platform (Zoom, Teams, etc.) to avoid technical issues during your session.
  2. Prepare a Quiet, Well-Lit Space: Choose a distraction-free environment with good lighting. Make sure your background is professional or use a virtual background, if necessary, to maintain focus on your presentation.
  3. Keep Your Presentation Clear and Concise: Plan your content to be engaging and within the time limit. Use visual aids like slides or videos effectively but avoid overloading them with information. Make sure key points are easily visible and understandable.
  4. Have a Backup Plan: Be prepared for potential technical difficulties. Ensure you have a backup device or plan in place if something goes wrong (e.g., sending your slides to aasta.thomson@dayhospitalsaustralia.net.au at least 1 week prior to the conference).
  5. Dress Professionally and Maintain Eye Contact: Even though the event is virtual, professional attire is expected. Look directly at the camera when speaking to create a sense of eye contact with your audience. This helps establish a connection and keeps viewers engaged

On the day:

  1. Join the Session Early: Plan to join the virtual event at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time. This allows you to connect with the AV team, test your equipment, and resolve any last-minute issues.
  2. Follow the Provided Access Instructions: Use the specific meeting link or platform instructions shared by our Event Manager. Make sure you’ve received all relevant login details, session times, and technical guidelines in advance.
  3. Check-In with the AV Team: Once you’ve joined the virtual room, notify the AV team that you’re present. They will confirm your audio, video, and screen-sharing settings to ensure everything is working smoothly.
  4. Remain Available for Last-Minute Changes: Stay in contact with the AV team through the provided communication channel (chat, phone, or a separate platform) in case of last-minute adjustments or updates during the session.
  5. Have Contact Details Handy: Keep a direct contact number or chat line for the AV team accessible in case you experience any technical issues after your session begins.
