Qualified Aberdeen 1981. Appointed Consultant Anaesthetist in York (1989). Led development of day surgery developing a new 6 theatre day surgery unit. Elected to the Council of the British Association of Day Surgery in 1994 and served as Honorary Treasurer, Editor of the Journal of One-Day Surgery and then as President. He was President of the International Association for Ambulatory Surgery in 2013 and is now Editor of their journal Ambulatory Surgery and President of their Scientific Committee. His interests include the use of IT in medicine and he has spent the last decade supporting the development and safe implementation of IT across several hospitals. |
